Salon promo

Just thought I'd post this sketch I did a little while ago for a hair Salon. The idea was to have the image be reversible so it can be viewed from multiple angles.

TWiN event

I was recently asked to participate in an event put together by the q department, and TWiN. Basically, myself and 20 other local artists/illustrators were given 2 tracks from a playlist. I got Sufjan Stevens "The Dress Looks Nice On You" and "A Good Man Is Hard To Find". We were given half an hour, and a black sharpie to draw out our interpretation of the songs while being filmed. We were given the option to plan it out before hand and transfer it to the larger 3ft x 2.5ft piece of card. Because I tend to be a little obsessive about everything I draw, I had to have it all planned out before hand. Being the genius that I am, I planned it to be a vertical composition instead of horizontal. So when I got there, I had a mild panic attack (too much coffee, really gotta stop drinking so much of it) but everything worked out for the better in the end. The videos were then projected at an event in Soho, and they were synced up to the music. Its pretty cool to see yourself drawing so fast and watching it all come together. I have a few crappy camera phone pictures of the event. Thanks to Jonathan and Josh of TWiN for inviting me to participate.

Globe and Mail

This is a piece I completed recently for Globe and Mail about the financial crisis. The article discusses how women in finance are faring far better than their male counterparts. It also argues that the financial crisis may have been avoided had more women been in positions of power. This should be be out in the next few months.
